frequently asked questions

Sleep pressure! Wake windows! False starts! Reverse cycling! There is so much information out there — some of it good, some of it bad, and sometimes even conflicting. This often leaves parents feeling overwhelmed and second-guessing everything. Working with a Certified Sleep Consultant takes the guesswork out of all of it. Consider me your coach: I provide personalized solutions based on your child's individual sleep needs, real-time troubleshooting, and unparalleled support. I am there to support and guide you through the entire process, answering your "what do I do now?!" questions and holding you accountable to make sure little problems don't become big problems.

I do not teach a 'Cry-it-Out' method, however, I cannot say there won't be any crying. Crying is your child's way of protesting change, so you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. How much or how little depends on your child and their personality, how big their sleep debt is, and how overtired they are.

Please know that I will never ask you to leave your child to cry for long periods of time without responding to them. As a Certified Baby Sleep Consultant, it is my responsibility to coach you through the best ways to respond so that we minimize the amount of crying as much as possible.

No. The bond you have with your child is a lifelong evolving process. We have so many wonderful opportunities in life to create and nurture a secure attachment with our children. In fact, studies show that sleep training can actually improve the parent-child relationship because well-rested parents are often happier, more patient, and more attuned to their child's needs throughout the day.

I consider your baby’s age, weight, and other needs when I'm building your personalized sleep plan. If your baby still requires nighttime feeds, no problem! We will take that into consideration and build it into the plan.

If you plan to wean nighttime feeds, I can provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to do that safely and effectively from an experienced Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

My sleep training packages begin at 4-months-old. After that point, the "best time" is whenever YOU feel ready. Your energy informs the process, so if you're feeling uneasy about sleep training, your baby will feel it, too. I encourage you to wait until you have all your questions answered and you feel comfortable and confident moving forward. I also recommend starting my program when you know you will be home (with very little deviation from your normal routines) for at least 2 weeks.

My "Dream Sleeper" package is ideal for infants 4-23 months and my "Toddler Turnaround" package is ideal for children 2-5 years old. Just know it's never too late to start implementing healthy sleep habits and routines!

First and foremost, I help you teach your child to fall asleep independently. This means without the help of you or any external aid. The most common sleep challenge addressed is frequent night wakings and this is often due to one or more sleep association(s). Now, it's one thing for me to tell you to stop doing those things. It's a whole other thing to go through and handle the protest that can happen. My role is to help you navigate the removal of sleep associations in a way that will reduce the amount of tears as much as possible.

In addition to frequent night wakings, I help with naps and catnapping, early morning wake-ups, bedtime battles, and more!

Most clients will see results in their child’s sleep within 2-3 days. Given my sleep plans are individualized and focused on your family’s goals, some little ones may need a few extra days to settle into their new routine. The good news is that my all-inclusive plans offer 2 weeks of ongoing support to ensure you and your baby are happy, comfortable and sleeping well!

Every child is unique. Some respond almost immediately to sleep training techniques, while others need a little more time to adjust—and that's perfectly okay! With my service guarantee, you don’t have to worry about paying to extend the length of our arrangement. If you need more time, I’ll provide it free of charge (as long as you’ve been consistent in following our plan).

That's okay, I'm here to help! Inviting another person into an experience as intimate as motherhood is a big deal and you want to be certain you’re choosing the right Edmonton baby sleep consultant. I totally understand!
